There is a new, devious product coming out in the next year or so, called Google Wave. Something new by Google? That's not news. But what is news is what Google has put into this new "device."

What they call the Google Wave is a "new model for communication and collaboration on the web." Made by the same guys who made Google Maps, Lars and Jens have put together a team to build a way of communicating in every way possible (and in some ways not possible) through a browser.

Google Wave is a model for communication alright. How it preforms depends on how you look at it. Want to use it as a chat-type tool such as an instant messenger? Done. How about email? Okay. Photos? Videos? Games? Twitter? Facebook? Google apps? All of it. You name it, and Google Wave is supposed to do it.

At the moment, Wave is only a pre-release to developers, so dev gurus can get a head start on the applications and add-ons for it, and so Google can see what went wrong, what they need to do better, and have a massive array of already-developed add-ons that they can launch it with. Smart move on their part.

How is this going to work? Google intends to implement Wave throughout the entire web (or at least on every major networking site). Google Wave is highly customizable and easily integrable. After watching the hour-and-change video on Wave, I was extremely psyched about it. Of course, I am an absolute nerd when it comes to things like technology, so maybe it was just. However, anyone should be at least interested that Google had the idea of doing something along the lines of Wave.

If you can stand the length, it is well worth the watch. You can watch it below. If not, there are several abridged versions available too.
